Brief description:
This indicator determines the stock of hazardous wastes within a country, as defined in article 2 of the Basel Convention on the control of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and their disposal, as well as the amount of waste generated, exported, imported and treated in the country as a whole and by treatment methods (recycling, incineration, dumping and other methods)
Methodology:
The indicator is formed in accordance with the "Methodology for the formation of environmental statistics indicators" approved by Order No. 223 of the Acting Chairman of the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 25, 2015.

The Ministry of ecology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the responsible state body for generating data on the formation of hazardous waste. The information is generated according to the State inventory of production and consumption wastes based on the annual waste inventory report.
Unit:
It is measured in thousands of metric tons per year.
Goal:
Hazardous waste management is an indicator of driving forces. Trends in countries related to the generation, import and export of hazardous waste, as well as their processing, show how they respond to the need to minimize the existing hazardous waste, their processing within the country.
