Brief description:
The indicator defines the share of non-treated or non-sufficiently treated wastewaters that were discharged into water bodies in the total volume of wastewaters generated in a country in a given year.
Methodology:
The indicator is formed in accordance with the "Methodology for the formation of environmental statistics indicators" approved by Order No. 223 of the Acting Chairman of the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 25, 2015.

The responsible state bodies for the formation of data on the volume of discharged wastewater are the Ministry of water resources and irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan based on the form 2-TP vodkhoz "Report on the intake, use and disposal of water", for the formation of data on the volume of treated wastewater by enterprises of the wastewater disposal system is the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of annual national statistical observation in the form: 1-VK "Report on the work of enterprises operating water supply and (or) sanitation systems".
Unit:
Volumes of wastewater are measured in cubic meters; the share of non-treated wastewater in the total volume of generated wastewater is expressed as a percentage
Goal:
The indicator defines the level of the pressure on water bodies through non-treated or nonsufficiently treated wastewaters. It makes it possible to obtain information necessary for developing measures for the protection of water bodies and helps to assess measures taken to increase the efficiency of the wastewater management system.
