Brief description:
The indicator is defined as the total volume of annual intake of surface and underground fresh water by all water users.
Methodology:
The indicator is formed in accordance with the "Methodology for the formation of environmental statistics indicators" approved by Order No. 223 of the Acting Chairman of the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 25, 2015.

The responsible state body for the formation of data on fresh water intake is the Ministry of water resources and irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of departmental statistical form 2-TP Vodkhoz «Report on water intake, use and disposal». The report is submitted by water users who use water for agriculture and other water users.
Unit:
The indicator is measured in million m3/year.
Goal:
The indicator allows you to determine the amount of water taken from freshwater sources, as well as assess the impact on the environment due to the withdrawal of resource freshwater. It may reflect the degree of water resource scarcity, as well as the distribution of collected water by economic activity.
