Brief description:
Atmospheric precipitation (the total amount of water that fell on a certain area of territory over a specific period of time) is water in a liquid or solid state that fell from clouds or was deposited from the air on the earth's surface, on various objects or plants. Precipitation can occur in the form of rain, drizzle, snow, sleet, ice or snow grains, hail, or sleet.
Methodology:
The indicator is formed in accordance with the "Methodology for the formation of environmental statistics indicators" approved by Order No. 223 of the Acting Chairman of the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 25, 2015. The responsible body for conducting meteorological observations of air temperature in the Republic of Kazakhstan is the RSE "Kazhydromet" of the Ministry of Ecology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Unit:
The amount of precipitation in millimeters (mm) and the ratio of precipitation in a specific time period to long-term precipitation rates is expressed as a percentage (%).
Goal:
The indicator characterizes the state of the climate system, as well as the impact of precipitation on changes in the volume of river flow, groundwater, and on soils, biota. The analysis of long-term observations of the main climatic characteristics, such as precipitation, air temperature and humidity, allows not only to judge the change in the structure of precipitation in a certain area, but also to assess the dynamics of changes in the amount of precipitation over the past period, predict such changes in the future, as well as evaluate the associated climate changes.
