In February 2024, the monthly consumer price index accelerated and amounted to 1.1% (in January this year – 0.8%). Prices for paid services increased by 1.7%, food products - by 0.8%, non-food products - by 0.7%.
In the field of housing and communal services hot water tariffs have in creased by 11.6%, central heating - by 10.7%, cold water - by 8.3%, water disposal - by 7.3%. Prices for cellular communication services increased by 6.2%, bathhouse services - by 3.8%, healthcare services - by 2.1% , catering services - by 1.2% .
Among food products, prices for cucumbers increased by 14.8%, tomatoes - by 8%, sweet peppers - by 5.4%, bananas - by 3.8% .Price increases were noted for bread by 1.3%, flour - by 1%, pasta - by 0.8%. Cheaper buckwheat by 2.4%, sunflower oil - by 2 %, granulated sugar by - 1.5%.
Price increases in February 2024 were noted for household appliances by 2.2%, cars - by 1.6%, textiles - by 0.9%, personal goods - by 0.7%. Medicines increased in price by 1.2%.
Among the regions, the highest monthly inflation was registered in the Karagandy region - 1.9% (above the republican average by 0.8 percentage points ), the lowest – in Abay and Almaty regions 0.5% each .
By region, prices for food products increased the most in Shymkent city by 1.4 %, non-food goods– in Мangystau region by 1.5%, paid services - in the Karagandy region by 3.7%.
Inflation in February 2024 on an annualized basis amounted to 9.3%. Prices for paid services increased by 12.8%, non-food products - by 8.5%, food products - by 7.4%.
Compared to February 2023, tariffs for sewerage increased by 33.9%, central heating - by 30.9%, cold water - by 30.8%, garbage removal - by 30.7%, hot water - by 29.4%, electricity - by 19.9%. Grapes rose in price by 44.3%, white cabbage - by 29.7%, rice - by 26%. Prices for paracetamol increased by 63.3%, acetylsalicylic acid - by 60.1%, activated carbon - by 32.3%. On the contrary, in annual terms, onions fell in price by 42.5%, buckwheat - by 24.3%, sunflower oil - by 21.2%, granulated sugar - by 14.8%, potatoes - by 12%.
The consumer price index, which characterizes the level of inflation, is calculated monthly. Observations are carried out on tariffs and prices for services and goods, for a total of 508 items. Dynamic changes in inflation can be viewed on a specially designed interactiveyes board , which covers indicators starting from 2018.
